We can all easily overlook our water intake. Some people don’t like the taste of it (just add some fresh squeezed lemon or lime), or simply don’t see the importance of it.
Importance of water:
Water aids in flushing toxins out of the body, keeps your joints lubricated, delivers nutrients to cells, assisting in organ functionality and helps your skin stay hydrated and helps keep you looking young. Dehydration can also contribute to sleep difficulties and being well-hydrated helps improve mood too!
So, how much water should we be drinking?? At the very minimum, we should drink 3 litres of water a day. Maybe this sounds intense? Here’s how to simplify it. Find a 1L water bottle – this way you’re not second-guessing on the 500ml, “did I drink one or two? I can’t remember!” So pull out that 1L bottle, and drink 1L between the time you wake up and finish before 12:00pm. From 12:00pm to 5:00pm, drink the second liter. Then from 5:00pm to 8:00pm (shorter time), drink the final litre. I am only suggesting drinking the final litre before 8:00pm, to lessen the likelihood of getting up too many times in the middle of the night for a pee.
Your body will thank you for all the water intake. And if you need to adjust this based on your work schedule or family life, feel free to find a way. Just set your target for 3L daily ∎
